Conventions over Configuration
Facet boasts a variety of diligently adjustable editor components while adhering to the guiding principle of Convention over Configuration. This means you can tailor components to your liking -- whether it's adjusting colors, tweaking line widths, or choosing the perfect icon -- all while ensuring readability and effortless comprehension.
The Editor is divided into two main sections: the sidebar on the left and the writing area on the right.
Editor with Sidebar and Writing Area
The sidebar appears on the left and is used to organize and manage the writing.
Books can contain multiple chapters, while essays consist of a single page. Authors can use the sidebar to create new chapters (1), navigate through their work, and configure final settings (3), such as uploading a cover, selecting a genre, and choosing a language.
As new chapters are created during the writing process, you may want to reorganize the order in which they appear in the final book. You can easily do this using drag and drop.
The sidebar also provides access to the community area (4) and gives authors and readers an overview of additional content used in the writing, such as polls (5).
The writing area on the right always starts with a blank sheet where you can add your content. Click inside the writing area and begin typing. Clicking the plus icon (+) that appears on each editor row or typing "/" opens the Components List that allows to add more complex objects to your writing (e.g. images, polls, separators, ...[1]).

Publishing and final settings
Publishing eBooks and essays involves slightly different processes. The sections below guide you through each step for both formats.
To publish your eBook, go to the Settings section. The Publish tab provides a checklist of everything required to share your writing with the world. At a minimum, each book requires:
a book cover (cover image tab)
genre and a language set up (general settings tab)
a synopsis (general settings tab)
at least one chapter with content
To publish an essay, all you need is a title and the essay content itself. A cover image is optional.
Streaks show how many consecutive days you’ve been active as a writer on Facet.
